A significant wave of investment is flowing into Brazil to finance a new, sustainable economy focused on zero deforestation. Innovative financial solutions are mobilizing billions from domestic and international investors for nature-based solutions (NbS).
Since August 2022, approximately $3.67 billion in NbS deals have been publicly reported. Momentum is accelerating, with significant deal flow and fund formation seen since early 2024. Projections show strong future intent, with one survey indicating a potential $3.8 billion allocation from 2023-2027.
These investments target high-impact areas like regenerative agriculture, ecosystem restoration, and commercial agroforestry, with expected returns ranging from 6% to over 20% IRR. Initiatives like the IFACC are channeling hundreds of millions into sustainable soy and cattle production. With 73% of Brazil's emissions from agriculture and deforestation, and upcoming events like COP30, the country presents a globally significant market for investors seeking strong, sustainable returns.
