More Information on the Event
In the next decade, we must halve emissions, reverse biodiversity loss and enhance resilience if we are to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement. None of this can be achieved without ending commodity-driven deforestation and rapidly scaling up nature-based solutions. The risks of inaction are overwhelming, while the opportunities are endless.
Finance and business leaders know they have a critical role to play in mitigating risks, seizing on new investment opportunities, and driving the transition towards a sustainable economy. Over 450 financial institutions and 7,000 corporations in the Race to Zero are committed to net zero targets. But the information landscape on which actions to prioritize and how to concurrently address both risk and opportunity is busy and often leaves out nature.
‘Journey to Net Zero and a Nature-Positive Future’ at New York Climate Week sets things straight, showing the interlinkages between science, financial risk and investment opportunity in the land use sector. From managing risks to deforestation exposure and transforming agricultural supply chains, to accelerating financing at-scale toward nature-based solutions, this event brings together leaders across finance, business and science to show how nature is a critical ally in net zero delivery.
During this interactive dialogue on September 22, 5:30-7:30pm, we will discuss how the required actions to deliver an integrated nature-positive, net-zero economy are achievable, desirable and gathering momentum - and how we can collaborate to accelerate that momentum.
