Note from the author: Biodiversity takes center stage... According to Environmental Finance, biodiversity linked fund assets tripled in 2022. Of note, these numbers come from “funds or strategies mentioning ‘biodiversity’ in their title”. In reality, this burgeoning sector paints a much more nuanced picture. On top of the expected lack of uniformity in disclosures there is no one metric, like CO2e, for biodiversity to measure and trade. Even so, it seems the effects of COP27 combined with COP15 on the global financial community is in full force.
